So my date with Licorice was pretty good, I actually had a great time.
The end.
JUST KIDDING! LOL, did that scare you?
So Licorice was suppose to come pick me up around 3pm or 4pm but he was a little late and came around 4:30pm even though our reservation was for 5~5:30pm. I was getting ready and then I got a call from him saying that he has arrived in front of the house... That was when the nervous feeling started to set in because I wasn't sure if what I was wearing was good enough.
I stepped out of the house and walked around to the drive way and there he was, standing with his button down shirt, slacks, corporate shoes and shades. Hahaha, suave.
We get into his Prius... BUT WAIT, Licorice opens the door for me! Ooooh yes, chivalry! BONUS POINTS. Anyways, we drive off to Long Beach which is about 30~40 minutes away but we managed to make it on time for our reservation. We almost got lost since it was his first time there as well and I was pretty excited that we were trying this new restaurant for the first time together.
He's nice, easy on the eyes and chivalrous. Not really my type of guy but, you can't be picky.
While we were driving to the restaurant, he asks me what my favorite foods are, I told him that I love Mediterranean food so he told me that there was a good one up the street from where we are (in the car) and he told me that he knows a really good Brazilian BBQ in Long Beach and said, "We should go there next time." Oh? There's a next time?
We arrived at Tantalum, went inside and told the front desk that we are here for our reservations and they seated us by the window, near the sail boat docks, sea lions and we were able to watch the sunset. Mmm, they were really good seats.
We ordered our "Tantalizers" (appetizers) which was a Yakiniku calamari's and it was good but it's only good when it's hot and the shishito aioli sauce that it came with it? Ooooh, that was yummy! Then we were asked to order our main dishes: Licorice got the Scottish salmon with a zucchini loaf-looking thing and I ordered the seared Yellow Fin tuna and I thought that was good, it was seared on the outside but it was like raw sashimi in the inside and it was really delicious.
Since Licorice is a wine person, I was thinking he might have ordered some but he didn't, haha. Good choice. Maybe next time? Haha.
After sharing a bit of our dinner together, Licorice was nice enough to let me pick dessert! Ooooh, me and desserts are always indecisive because I love them all but I ended up going for the "Brass Monkey" which is a vanilla bean custard creme brulee with caramelized banana, chocolate at the bottom, crushed almonds on top and I'm glad that Licorice liked it. :)
When we finally finished and our table was being cleared out, we decided to finally leave and he was going to take me out around Long Beach. He was showing me places that are good to eat and where the nice bars are. (as if I go to them in the first place) and he took me to the Long Beach Boardwalk (almost reminded me of the Jersey Shore) and we went window shopping, tried on some silly hats and we went into this "Hot Sauce" store where they sell nothing but hot sauces and we saw that the store had freaky things to eat like roasted chili larvae? And we saw the "Bacon and Cheese" coated crickets so Licorice and I decided to give it a try... We also tried to have the nice cashier girl to join us but she was refusing so Licorice and I left the store and decided that it was just us two eating it.
In the process of chewing, it wasn't too great. For one, it didn't taste like bacon and cheese and two, they were crunchy. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good... It wasn't good only because I knew what I was eating but there wasn't anything bad about it to the point where it made me want to vomit or something but after one cricket, we were done.
Now we can scratch that off our list of the craziest things we've ever eaten.
After walking around the boardwalk and slightly goofing around, we decided to get some coffee since it was getting really cold. So we had to drive all the way to his house so he can change then we went to Starbucks, talked and went to Albertson's to rent a movie but since there weren't any good ones, we just went back to Licorice's house and watched a thriller-ish movie called "Sublime", it was alright, slightly boring... It's definitely something I'm not watching ever again.
While watching the movie, he compliments me. "You look really pretty today... I don't know why you were so worried about what you were going to wear."
Since there weren't any other movies to watch, we just watched TV... To be honest, watching TV made time pass by even faster and we were just flipping through channels. We were watching the Wild Wild West and Pearl Harbor (switching back and forth) and since Licorice can't stand commercials, we were constantly flipping channels and eating toasted Poptarts. Next thing you know, we finish Pearl Harbor then I look at the time, and it's 4am.
FOUR IN THE FREAKING MORNING!
(face palm) We were almost falling asleep on the couch and we both decided to go to bed. Since it was 4am (5am if you didn't count DLS Time), I was surely not going to go home anymore... We both go into his room and he lends me some of his clothes to wear to sleep, I then go into the bathroom to change and head back in the bedroom to sleep. He changes and slips into bed as well and we had to turn on the heater because it was freaking cold. He turned off the lights and we start talking. Seriously? You want to talk now? Hahaha but we start talking, making jokes and next thing you know, he kisses me.
At this point, I think if shitting bricks were real... I would have shit a ton of bricks.
He then hugged me, kissed me on the forehead and we both fell asleep, holding each other. As sweet as that was, knowing that he was a guy, I bet he was expecting some smushing...
Cuddling with him was nice but there were a few times where I just had to pull away, turn around and silently cry because the only person that I thought about cuddling with at night was Blue Fox. Even when I fall asleep facing away from him, sometimes Licorice puts his arms around me and like always, I kept thinking that could have been Blue Fox's arms like it use to be... Sometimes, I would even wake up with Licorice hugging me, kissing me on the cheek and greeting me in the morning.
I felt a little bad that while I was on a date with him, I kept visualizing or thinking of Blue Fox and it just got worse at night before sleeping... Why?
We finally woke up at about 11am and both (separately) took a shower and we ate at Denny's. And I've never ate at Denny's before so it was the first and it wasn't bad... Haha. And while we were waiting for the waiter to come take our orders, we were just talking and planning on other things because he surely wants to see me again.
Once our waiter comes, he takes our orders and before he leaves...
Waiter: How would you like your toast?
Licorice: ... Toasted?
Me: (giggles but holds in laughter)
LOL. Ohmygod, that was hilarious! So we eat at Denny's and after, he drives me all the way home. We start coming up with funny conversations and the ride going home seemed so much shorter.
As I get out of the car, he hugs me goodbye and tells me that we'll definitely see each other again.
According to our mutual friend, Orange, Licorice likes/enjoys hanging out with me and would like to see me again. (Lol)
PS: Since I was on hiatus for like, four to five days... People have been hitting me up on my phone and Facebook asking if I died and that they are worried for me. Lol, the house lady took back her laptop that I borrowed and wasn't allowed to go online for a while. Hahahaha but people assumed I died off the bat! Sheesh. I'm alive, don't worry.
Happy about Licorice, Still in Love with Blue Fox,
Otter
